Agreed. I printed some initial test parts from PLA just to test dimensions and fit, but would not use it in the car as a final part.
For the final parts I used ASA filament, which is similar to ABS for strength and heat resistance but it also has resistance to ultraviolet rays so can be used for applications exposed to sunlight as well.

3D models for printing are now available on github here: https://github.com/Ytrahcodo/Jaguar-X100-Nav

Also if I were to kit it I would want to have actual PC boards made where I used hand-wired prototyping boards.

My total cost (not including parts i ended up not using ) was about $450. That figure includes some things that could be cost reduced or optional - such as the Apple Carplay which Android users wouldn't need, which cost about $70.

Thank you! $450 is not as much as I expected given how well it is integrated and the well-thought out the design is.

I have got to find someone who can print it for me. The only 3D printers available to me print surgical guides, provisional crowns, and dental models. I'm certain the resin they use is not suitable for this project.

I believe PCBWay and send cut send can 3d print for you. I would certainly be excited if Geraldius ever puts out gerber files for the circuit board as PCBway is a great candidate to produce those.

Update
I had planned to develop this project further to the point of making a kit available, but unfortunately, a major upset has taken place. The provider of the 'Openauto Pro' software that runs this has ceased business. The developer was bought out and all sales of the software have halted. Their website has even been taken down, abandoning the whole user base. I may still be able to make copies of the software that I have but not sure if that will run afoul of copyright laws. I'll keep watch to see if another software platform shows up that can substitute or maybe develop my own.

No doubt they were infringing someone else's copyright with that code. Crankshaft is still available, but I don't think it is as comprehensive as Openauto Pro.

Fantastic job! I've been thinking about what to do with mine for a while now and really came to a similar conclusion - 3d print something then wire up some clever filler stuff for the sides (or just block off), and pick a screen and pi or arduino or something... than lots of interfacing setup and getting all to work. I know a little about each aspect and how it would all work, but doubt I could have done any single part as well as you did, and it still would have consumed the next year of my life. Really great job.

Geraldius, what part of NC? I'd like to see your setup and/or pick your brain. I just inherited a 2001 XKR that will need this conversion.

Hi Ben, looks like your XKR is going to need a lot of love, but could be worth it.
Presently, I'm working on revising the design of my Raspberry pi nav upgrade project to make it easier to build. I'm designing new PCBs to replace the hand-wired adapter boards. The Raspberry pi power board I used on the original is out of production so I'm integrating the power supply function into the new board as well. This will lower the stacking height, making an easier fit into the cramped cavity behind the dash.
There's still the issue of the OpenautoPro software going unavailable. I was able to get a second system running with files I already own, so that may be ok as a temporary solution.
Not entertaining visits right now, but it looks like you've got some work to do before getting to the Nav upgrade.
My suggestion is to subscribe to this thread and you'll be notified when I have updates, which I'll be sure to post here.

Short answer - there weren't any gauges. His car had the navigation system, which is in place of the gauges.
