Hello all,
I'm doing the shocks on my '00 xkr, got a set from RockAuto and the rear shocks out.
However because of the stiff default (the shocks even shipped without a strap surprisingly) I am being overly cautious about fitting them back in.
Currently they are too extended to clear the control arm, everything is disconnected, they just need to be compressed more.
I don't know much about the adaptive part of the shock, is it safe to force compression with say a bottle jack?
I don't want to damage any valving. Do I need to energize them with the cable and putting the key to position 1?
Like I said, I'm just being overly cautious, itd be a nightmare to destroy a $400 shock over not asking for advice lol.
Also if anyone needs a rear shock bushing set I don't need them anymore. The 2 for the shock itself and the one that goes between the top spring seat and the tower.
I thought the clunk was the bushings, it wasnt it was the lower one. (Replaced the shocks instead of the lower bushing since im at 140 and they were the originals)
Hi, This isn't the problem im running into, I have everything out, but because the shocks are adaptive im worried about compressing them further to fit the shock+spring+tower back in

Compressing them won't hurt them. They will only compress to a certain point.
l imagine you would not even be concerned but for the fact they are so stiff, it's just how they are.

Very reassuring thank you,
One last thing, Im trying to find the torque settings for a specific nut, it attaches the wheel hub to #1 in this chart. I found the table with the specs but don't know which one it is.
