Hello All,
I have a 2000 Jaguar XK8 convertible and when I went to get an alignment, it came up with a Left Rear Camber out -1.6 degrees and a Right Rear Camber out -1.4 degrees.
So I looked up the different shims available from Jaguar and found this:
So my question is: Is there a chart that corelates the degrees of change needed to align to the size shim needed?
All the X308 and X100 cars I aligned when I worked at the dealer started out at 4mm from the factory. (I never saw a different size but there might have been)
The parts dept kept 6mm in stock and nearly every time that got the camber back in spec.
I keep a pair of 6mm shims on my parts shelf just in case I need them.
Modifying the ride height will get you off into experimenting and I do not get into that.
SNG Barratt has them. The ones shown in this thread are for an XK8, which will likely not fit the XJ6 rear end.
Now, I have questions. I have encountered this rear suspension swap on a group in FB and became intrigued. Why is this a popular modification?
Well, it's probably not currently, but it was when I started this project long ago (1999-2000 time frame). It's been sitting at the shop for years and they're finally getting it up and going for me. I've always been intrigued by the Jag IRS when it was in these style vehicles back in the 80s and 90s.
Depending on the FB group, it may be mine you've seen. I don't see many doing it but have heard where there are others as well. I'll look up SNG Barratt. Thanks!
Well, just look at it!!! It's gorgeous. Back in the day all Hot Rodders were envious of a Jag IRS. The ride has to be better than the old axle and it has cool factor. However, like the the legless frogs at a restaurant, there is a Jag somewhere resting on it;s gas tank. So sad. I hope it was salvaged from a wreck. TM

It 'used' to be an inexpensive (relatively) means to adding an IRS to a custom vehicle.

Yeah, at one time (back in the late 80s and 90s, the mating between the two was in all the classic truck magazines which is where I got the idea... I've had the truck since '89.
I found a front and rear suspension for $300, added a mounting kit for the '57 Truck for about $1,100 that included some shims but have noticed a camber issue that needs correcting (from what the body guy tells me).
