I am thinking about doing a rear seat delete on my 2001 XKR convertible. Has anyone out there done it and are there any photos ?
by chance, i recieved an email from here yesterday of a convertion to a deck with speakers in the wall... AWESOME job and i'd give a bit to have the exact same done to my XKRFACE ;-)
I have to do a hydraulic hose replacement for my top. I am going to do the rear seat delete at that time. I am also going to reroute the hydraulic hoses through the area of the rear seat delete to make the job a bit easier. I'll take photos or video of the process and post them when I do the job.
there are 3 members that I can think of with rear seat deletes - most recent is SamtheSham and his post is in the What did you work on today thread in this forum. I would also do an advanced search using key work rear seat delete but add user philhef - he did a very unique seat delete on his and the other is with user enderle. there may be more but those 3 stick out
As 'SKLIMII' said, I just recently did the delete. Had an upholstery shop here do what I designed with ideas from others here on the FORUM(Thx Guys).
I had an extra pair of speakers that they tied into my system. Added locking releases for the access doors. The upholsterer did the 'Leaper' and logo(I onlysuggested a Leaper if they could do it. I later added the 1/2 round aluminum skids to protect my carpet. Get lots of complements for what Jag should have done. Now I have an very good condition extra back seat taking up space in my attic.
After complete, discovered a leak in Hyd. lines going up "A" pillar. Replaced.
If you have any questions, PM me and I will get you more pix.
I am going to steel part of your design. I am going to go with a single door, Incorporate seat belt like straps to hold down cargo, no additional speakers.
Yours does look great. way to go.
Thanks
