Default Remote does not work until right next to the back glass antenna

Hey I have a Jaguar xk8 coupe 2001 that came from Georgia.

I've been plagued with this issue regarding the antenna. I just programmed two remotes and everyone of them has been having this issue. So I've now proved it's a problem with the car.

I've already done a lot to the car and taken things apart so I'm no stranger to repairing it myself but I would like to know what are some remedies you guys have done to fix this poor connection.

The plug is plugged into the back glass but yet if you step in front or away from the car it cannot receive the signal.

Inside the car the signal is 98% always going to be received and 70% from the back of the car. Step away or in front it drops to 17% chance

Any advice is appreciated

Did you check the coax connection on the SLCM?

I just want to say thank you for always responding to my questions regarding this project car it's been a wonderful experience! It's helped fixing so many problems it's 67% closer to daily commute quality.

As for the (SLCM) I've been in the area when I replaced relays because the old ones were partly missing.

When I replaced the mast to the antenna I inspected the connection (the antenna cable to the fuse box) it was properly connected I believe, I can't lock it in place(via turning the metal piece) but it's all the way in.

The module itself I have not inspected, Is it known for failure or resoldering?

Edit: Now that I think about it, would it be possible that if it's not all the way in the connection would be weak?

Further more if so is it possible to change the wires head so that it can go all the way in if it's that.

This problem was discussed at length a while ago in this thread.

Update: It was the security module itself, it had a short somewhere inside.
