This makes me very nervous. Can someone please advise how this attaches and if in fact it simply pulls off? I intend to survey the mounting and reattach in a more secure manner. Thanks Ian.

Lol, I was skeptical when I read the same instructions, but they are correct. I use a plastic kitchen spatula and just pry away. Horrible the first time you do it, but you will see that the panels are in fact very strong.

The panels are laminated onto metal backing and are stronger than they appear. That being said, if the panel bends, the laminate WILL crack. Also note that 1/4" double-sided tape is used around the edges. Sometimes the tape is still holding very well, and sometimes it has given up all together.

I have accumulated an assortment of plastic tools used to lift off interior and exterior trim. They are much better than the "wrapped screwdriver" etc. They are cheap, less than $5, and inspire much more confidence than a plastic spatula.

I have total faith in my homemade trim tool/spatula. Used it dozens of times on many cars and never left a scratch or broken any trim

Just to to be clear, the OP asked about the speedometer cluster wood panel. That removes with 2 screws at the bottom, and then you pull DOWN. It is the center panel that pulls out.

I brought this set of pry bars about 3 weeks ago..I don't know how I lived without them. Best $6.00 I've spent in a long time.
