Default Removing transmission

I am removing the transmission in my 1997 XK8 convertible. I have removed all of the bolts holding trans to engine. And the three bolts on torque converter, and driveshaft, hydraulic lines , wires , shifter cable . The left side of the transmission is loose ,but the upper right side appears to be stuck on something. So far I haven't been able to see what the holdup is. The engine is suspended and I have lowered the rear of transmission engine assembly a couple of inches. I am working by myself so it's hard to be under the car and move the transmission and look for the obstruction from above at the same time. Any suggestions? Thank You for your help.

I've removed engines and transmissions from other car including my XJS. If you don't have a shop manual, be very careful and check for the "hidden" bolt or maybe something like the dipstick or other bracket. The transmission is aligned with a couple of hollow steel dowels which can be corroded and cause the unit to stick.

The STEEL locating DOWELS usually corrode and can seize to the aluminum engine/trans.

I spray the dowel holes with penetrating oil and then work thin wedges closer and closer to the dowel until it breaks the bond.

Use a liberal amount of anti-seize compound when reinstalling the gearbox.
