Dear all, after replacing the outdated navi with the 3 gauge cluster I've experimented with dash panels covered in oatmeal faux leather (see my previous post). It looked ok but it was always the idea to change all wood panels. Certainly as my dash has a bad case of milky / yellowing clear coat on the panels (see pictures). Searching ebay I found a nice complete set for $215 and $30 for shipping. Add taxes around $70 and I think it was a good deal. the panels look great, no cracks or anything and the set was complete.
Installing the new set was actually not that hard. You can find tutorials on youtube for almost all panels and only the passenairbag panel was a bit tricky. But if you take the Jaguar workshop manual, second edition 1999 and first remove the glove compartment “Glove Compartment 76.52.03 Removal” you just need to follow the steps for “Passenger Air Bag Module 76.73.37 Removal” and you are there. There is also a thread about removing the connectors on the airbag on this forum. Do note that there are connectors at both sides of the airbag!I didn’t take many pictures or made a video but just wanted to share with all of you that it is not that hard, as always, prepare yourself by looking at all the video’s, read the manual and take your time.
Great job. I did similar replacement on my '06. It had the Nav system and an ELM dash. I also wanted to redye the top of the dash (Vinyl), and side door tops. Went from Taupe to burgundy. A lot of effort but well worth it I think. Now I have a complete ELM/Nav dash available if anyone wants a replacement/conversion.

What year Jaguar do you have? I am assuming 2001 since that is when they had the bad batch of clear coat - like in my car. That is on my to-do list but will have to wait for a while - at least until I finish my LS swap
Top job. I have done this myself on a previously owned xkr. I now need to repeat it on my 2001 xkr but am struggling to find a nice replacement set. I am based in the uk but would be grateful for details of any possible suppliers. Thanks.

Thanks, answered a question I posed long ago. My 2001 dash is quite a bit lighter than the 2002s. However, it looks nice, in my opinion.
The picture below doesn't do it quite justice, but it has a pronounced elm'ey effect, but appears clear, not milky like the wood around the door window controls. So much so, that the elm shift knob I now have fits right in. I have a replacement set of veneer (since they were $18), but I guess I'll still keep the bad clear coat anyway now that I know.
Well done. I did the same, found my replacement panels and three gauge cluster in a local wrecking yard, by huge good luck. Those look beautiful, as fine as mine do!!.
You were lucky. Don't have "Junk Yards" here that hold Jag XK's. I do have a stock 3 gauge cluster, that I replaced with the RealGauge unit, available for the shipping to anyone who can use it. Also Elm panels.
