Default Replacing Aux drive and SC belts will a basic wrench work?

Hi Folks... using the CV down time to get some much need work done to the car.
Managed to replace the coolant expansion yesterday thanks to a couple of informative posts here!

Next up are the 2 belts. I get significant squeal around this time of year (yes, weird. Must be a temp fluctuation thing as it goes by mid spring!) Going to replace the belts first see if that helps. The Aux belt is showing slack on the tension marker. Not a lot but it's just past the lower guideline. So hoping it's that.

One thing I don't have is a specific wrench for the bolt on the tensioner pulley. I do have a bog-standard ratchet socket wrench about a 7 1/2 inches long. Would this suffice do you think or should I buy something more specific for the task?

Cheers
Grif

I think it would be more difficult to do it using a tool that short, but probably doable. There is not that much spring tension to deal with.

I used a 3/8 torque wrench that was 18" long. That worked really well. Got it at Harbor Freight for under $20.

Just find a piece of pipe that will slip over the handle to extend it.

The SC belt tensioner will need to be removed or at least loosened to access the FEAD belt (Front Engine Accessory Drive).
The belt will be 'trapped' near the alternator.

ok. First problem. The SC belt tensioner. Can’t get my socket in there. Gap between fan and hope is too thin.

I found it pretty trivial to remove the fan unit.

Here is a thread that includes more quirks that some but not all may have. It includes some more fabricated wrenches or which one is my double ended wrench that alone will remove both of my belts. (Your results may vary)
