restricted performance problem

restricted performance problem
Hi all,
We recently purchased a 1999 XK8 Jaguar convertable. A few weeks after our purchase we had a "restricted performance" warning light come on. took it to a local mechanic who diagnosed the problem as coil packs and spark plug issues - which we replaced. The problem now seems worse...What's our next move and does anyone know a good, reliable Jaguar mechanic in the Pgh. area?
Thanks,
Mark & Joanna

Mark - welcome to the forum - best place for guidance on the restricted performance would be to post the question in the XK8/XKR section -
XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
the techs there are top notch and always willing to help. To better assist in diagnosis - have you had the codes pulled? Advance or Autozone can read them for you and provide print out - then post any codes here.
For mechanic advice in the Pittsburgh area - the regional section can help there

It's a possibility that your mechanic got the codes for cylinder misfires but replaced the wrong coils....the cylinder numbering is different for '99's versus later cars and different from the generic V8 readout at Autozone, etc. As mentioned, provide us the codes and you'll get pointed in the right direction.
