Also shown by the ignition lock on the wrong side for a RHD.

Looks like a temp gauge or most likely a 'smelly thing'.

BRG is a solid dark green whereas Jaguar Racing Green is a metallic dark green. Both are beautiful. In some illumination on some model years (it varies because BRG is not consistent throughout the years), the BRG may have a hint of blue.

It's not that definite. The only two consistent things about BRG (British Racing Green) are:
1. it's GREEN
2. it's DARK

Other than that there are huge variations in colour SHADE between racing teams who have used it and manufacturers who have or do offer it. Traditionally on their racing cars, Bentley used a very dark shade and Aston Martin a lighter one. Jaguar shade was somewhere in between.

My XK is the current shade Jaguar have used since 2014 as BRG and it has a very high metallic content as can be seen in the photo:

Graham,

I believe I remember that the primary reason you sold your previous two XK8s was due to the ever-increasing amount of rust they eventually suffered from....

Has your 2014 XK been more successful at fighting off the rust issues?

Jon,

There's quite a lot on the steel suspension parts but it's surface only. I had expected the aluminium body would be free from corrosion issues but it went back for warranty repairs to the roof and next to the RH vent where the paint was bubbling. The above photo is two years after the repairs. This is the the "before" photo:

I've always used my Jaguars all year round and do put a lot of miles on them so that's the price I pay for the enjoyment. Corrosion issues have been considerably less on both my aluminium XK's than either of my earlier two steel bodied XK8's.

Glad to hear that Jaguar fully covered your paint bubbling issues under warranty....

I have always been impressed with the paint quality of my former 2005 S-Type as well as my wife's 2006 XK8 (both vehicles were built in May 2005). Sure hope my opinion stays that way....
