Default Road trip

I bought my 2006 XK8 late last September, put it away for the winter in November and didn't get to use it for any extended trips. I put it back on the road March 15th and my wife and I just returned from a 2300 mile road trip to Zion, Petrified Forest, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks (and other stops along the way). The Jaguar performed flawlessly through desert heat in Arizona, snow squalls in the Wasatch Mountains, and a 50mph dust storm in southern Utah. What a pleasure it was to drive on the mountain roads and the high speed highways. I am even more impressed with the vehicle than I expected to be.
No constructive information here. I just wanted to share my joy.

Great !!

I post after every road trip as well. So the casual observer to the forum knows there is more than heartache to these cars.

How about sharing your photos too.

Good to hear you had no vehicle issues.

Thanks for sharing this. You know the biggest attraction to these cars besides the beauty, is the driving. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that Best Wishes for more miles!

WJ,

Which Bar-B-Que Joint do you normally drive to for Lunch? There must be 25 or 30 within the Austin area...Let me know someday when you are planning one of those Luncheon trips and I will drive West over to meet you!

If one doesn’t want to fight the Austin traffic and crowds, The Salt Lick between Austin and Dripping Springs is a good destination with reliable food.

The Austin traffic has become so dire to me that I rarely go into the city any longer. Mat's ElRancho is my favorite Mex restauaunt just outside the downtown area... many folks visiting want to hit the salt Lick, it is good but more of a tradition than really great (imo). In Wimberley we HAD a great bbq place that just closed its doors because of the price of meat!
One of my great drives to lunch is out past Luchenbach, Alamo Springs Cafe...is my choice.
BC, send me a pm and we'll plan something.

I believe Matt’s el Rancho closed down.

It was one of our favorites when we lived in Austin & nearby.
