Default Sadly broke my 97 XK8 Coupe today

It kissed a commercial van
I doubt it is salvable. Will wait to see what insurer provides and what X100 coupes are available for sale.
Fun while it lasted.
At least it was before I splurged on a respray.
Chris

Ouch. Sorry for your luck bud. At least it sounds like you're okay.

Sad day Chris..
Best wishes.

As an aside, would Autonomous Emergency Braking have prevented the impact?

Ouch! Sad day indeed but very rebuildable. Did the airbags inflate?

I doubt it will be rebuilt. Front end pushed right to left. See below the drivers side [opposite side of impact] out a few inches.
I would love to get it back and road worthy but if repair estimate exceeds blue book....it won't happen.
Other vehicles involved were Ford E250 van and F350 dump truck so you know this cat got the worse of it.
No injuries thankfully. Just heart broken.

Maybe there will an opportunity to give life to numerous other XK’s via transplants of your many still good parts.

same apparent color as my ‘02, zircon blue. Is a shame to see the aftermath. You have my sympathies.

will you be looking for a similar replacement.

Hey Chris let me know what happens with ICBC. It's probably has a ton of parts I could use if it's unrepairable. I'm only about 900km up the road and it might be worth buying and shipping up as a parts car for me. Also it would be nice to know what ICBC offers you for it, just in case.

Oh that just breaks my heart. I hate to see/hear of this. And that picture of them stacked up in another thread isn't helping, I can't get that image out of my head. I'm now having nightmares!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! But looks like some good will come of it maybe, seeing the offer above.

"Hi my name is Tom, I'm a Jagoholic" group says: "Hi Tom". Good luck.

My 1963 continental had a similar impact, front end only, total loss. The offending driver's insurance paid me their calculated value (very low). Before their flatbed took it to the boneyard, I sold about ten grand in parts on Ebay. Close to three grand went to Ebay, Paypal and shipping, but what remains is now a play money fund for the Jaguar. So IMHO grab some of those high value parts before they get crushed.

Seeing the pic of your car after your crash made me feel a little queasy! I'd be heart broken too!
I have just had both the rear arches & sills restored on mine, due to rust. It was bad enough when the restorers sent me some progress photos.

I have never really been this attatched to a car before!

Glad you're OK though!

The fact that you are OK is the most important. I'm sorry for your loss, but a car can be replaced.
