Hi,

The seat release lever on my drivers seat was stiff on the last use, and then stopped working. The motor to lower the headrest still works but the seat won't flip forward - can anyone help?

The lever is connected by a cable to a latch mechanism down at the seat pivot.

Is the lever completely loose as is the cable is detached or broken? Or is the lever stuck like it's bound up?

Unfortunately the only way to get at the cable is to unhook the seat skin at the bottom and pull it up.

It was stiff the last time it worked, and now it goes up and down, but not releasing the seat at all.

I hope it's something that's just come off and not something snapped!

Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and take the seat apart. Has this happened to you previously?

Not happened to me, but I've had the seats apart and happen to have a frame sitting here.

I tried to take some pictures of the mechanism so you could see how it hooks together. There are 2 cables attached to a single lever, one cable running to a latch on each side.

I'd guess that it somehow came unhooked from the lever rather than broke both cables at the same time.

It isn't that hard to take the seat skin off, just kind of a PITA.

Thanks for the photos, the cable at the bottom of one side had become detached, so only one of the levers that releases the top part of the seat was functioning. All fixed now!

 

Glad you got it fixed and you didn't even have to skin the seat!
