Default Seat switches

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a little help. I just reupholstered the front seats on the 98 XK8. I was quite a chore. They are both done and turned out awesome. The only problem is, and it's on both seats, is I can't get the switches to snap back into place. The long tab goes into its hole fine. But, the other end that is just supposed to click in when you push it dow . Wont lock in. It kind of clicks. But, when you BBC relieve pressure it comes out. So, it's obviously not going in far enough for the tabs to lock in. It should be simple. Anyone experienced this? Any help is appreciated.

So, I've only broken one of these pushing it back in, so my experience is limited...

...but, on my cars, the reinsertion required 1. an enormous amount of force, 2. the 'seat/hole/receiver' and the 'snap' (the shorter tab) to not be broken.

Your new upholstery may make it stiffer, also, on the insert.

Thank you CRBASS for your response. No tabs are broken yet. I tried both seats, shoving the switch in really hard. It clicks, but not into the slot. Comes back up when I relieve pressure. I wont give up. Thanks again.
