Default Side markers xkr x100 (special edition x400 2003)

Side marker reflector's/lights?

Are theses supposed to be lights? Why are some orange coloured and some clear like mine? On my car I have a wire dangling at both sides behind the bumper with what appears to be a blanking plug pushed inside, my car (pictured) has no holes in these lights for lamps to fit, I'm confused?? Thanks

For the US market these are illuminated sidemarkers, originally red rear, orange front.

For Europe, they are just reflectors, orange front and rear, although, as you have noticed, the wiring is there both front and rear.

It is possible to open out the blanked-off part of the moulding to allow a bulb & socket to be fitted if you want yours to light up with the sidelights.

The clear lens that you have is aftermarket, and requires some butchery careful surgery to replace the old orange part.

The bulb fitting is the same as the ones used in the rear boot trim for the number plate lamps. It's a Ford part:- see this post from canuck pump engineer:

Safest to wire the yellow ones as indicators ...3w led corn bulb is a push fit once you drill it out 1/2 in.
I have written this up with photos if you search.

It appears that the UK cars had these to fill the holes as reflector's, yellow on older models, white/clear appearing on newer models, I intend to keep them clear with a small wattage side light lamp, and a stronger wattage orange indicator lamp, so I achieve the best of both worlds and retain the clear/white lenses 👍

If you use filament bulbs on the indicator circuit you will upset the ECU internals that drive the flashers ..There is no separate flasher unit. that is why I use leds as the load increase is minimal ..Why not fit a small white led say 1w and a larger yellow led say 3w .You can drill more than one hole in the rear of the unit.. Remember the brightness is about 6 times as great with a led

+1 on using LEDs.

A further bonus is they don't run hot, so the bulb holders won't crack & crumble.

Hey Supercharger...

Go to your Adamesh Parts Book...You will find that you can order Clear Lens and a Bulb to replace the Front Markers.... The Bulb is a Chrome coated LED Yellow Bulb that shines Yellow. You will need to remove the XKR's Marker Lights from the Car....Carefully remove the Yellow Lens from the Marker Light and Glue the Clear Lens on as a replacement. Change the Bulb and when your Light are on the Marker will shine Yellow....Be careful removing the old yellow lens not to damage the base....Do not break the Base's edge and don't get glue on the Clear Lens.....Nothering to it! To remove Marker from Car....Slide it sideways.....Let me know if you have a problem,,,,,,,,,,,Adamesh also has Clear Blinker Lens to replace your Turn-Signals...makes it look pretty good!
