Default Siphoning Fuel

I need to reduce my fuel level and our roads are currently heavily salted and gravelled so do not want to drive it. Tried to siphon out some fuel but encountered an obstruction about 16” into the filler pipe. How to get past it or is it even possible?

I've syphoned fuel out of my 1998 XK8 with no problems. I was surprised that there was no anti-siphon in the filler.

Cannot get past about 16”. Must be some sort of anti siphon device?

There should be an ANTI-ROLLOVER check valve in the filler neck as mandated by North American regulations.

The valve is there to prevent fuel spill in case of a car upside down.

Thinking...where oh where could I get an easy opening that a fuel pump could then do the work...maybe?.

The 4.2 liter cars are very different.
The 4 liter cars have a filter near the rear suspension.
The easier place is the engine at the fuel rail for pump to deliver fuel to a container via plastic/rubber hose.

The original question was for a 1999 XK8 4.0 AJ27
