So Awesome...........But...The Radio - RESOLVED
Just got my 2001 XK8 back from my mechanic, eight new coils, eight new spark plugs, all new filters, except for the K&N. Runs awesome, fast, holy mackerel,
yes it is. But, the problem I'm am having is with the radio, got a new battery last week, put it in, started right up, no problem, right ?, wrong !
My radio has not worked at all since I installed the new battery. Anyone have an idea why now power to the radio???????? Thanks for any help.

Since you had the battery replaced and you were back by the amp check your connections there. Also check fuses (see chart) and lastly you have a US car so shouldn't need radio code, these are used mostly on the other side of the pond. You can find the owners literature in the DIY stickies to reference as well. You might also try a hard reset (disconnect neg battery cable, touch to positive post for 15 secs, then reconnect, don't forget to reset you windows)

I was told that I would have to take the radio out, 45 min. job) to replace the fuses if that was the problem, do you believe this to be true? Thanks for the above help and I still need more, haven't tried the battery disconnect yet, but will

Don't you need the security code for the radio? I don't know if they all use this security code, but I believe my 2006 XKR, with the alpine system requires such a code if disconnected. Just a thought.
If the radio head unit is set to EUR or AUST you might need a radio code.
If the head unit is properly set to US then it should NOT need the code if the radio loses power (ie. battery replacement).

Well, I found the fuse in the trunk, boot, and it is fine, but I could not find the fuse box on the passengers side. It doesn't seem to be out in plain sight. If anyone knows exactly where it is , please let me know. I hate driving this awesome machine with no radio.
Thanking you in advance

The fuse positions are numbered but you need good eyesight!

A few years back with a UK spec X308 I was sorting out a radio issue. It would power on and then display "CODE _ _ _ _" (which we had) but then the radio still wouldn't tune in or play after the correct security code was entered.
It turned out to have been set to US and resetting to EUR fixed it. I therefore don't think the code locking is a feature of the Zone the radio is set to but must be hardware controlled such a a jumper or track on the board.

OK, I just replaced two fuses that were broken, one 5 amp and one 10 amp.
Radio came on, Hallaluya, but wait, I cna get all the stations, but noe sound.
so I tried to reset by pushing the tape eject button and the am/fm button at the same time, pushed buttons 1 thru 9 like I was told to do. Still noe sound. So, I tried a hard reset, disconnected the neg cable, turned the ignition to on, touche the pos pole for 1 seconds, then turned the ignition off and reconnected the neg cable.
Still nothing, WT? is going on here. Any one ????

Not all XK8s have it, but check fuse F18 in the trunk fusebox next to the battery. This is the 30A fuse for the power amp if your car has premium audio. (Remove the narrow floor panel in the trunk for access.)
