My white/black XK8 is now my daily driver as my 92 911 was totalled in August, sold my Cayman S in December, then bought this. Now I have three lovely ladies in my life. Plan to retire this year at 65 and completely redo suspension on xk8.

and thus began my Jaguar XKR adventure...

 

My late lifelong, close friend had a 550 Maranello that I got to drive on occasion, and that car scared me. There seemed to be a direct link from my mind to the throttle, skipping my right foot. All I had to do was think an increase in speed and it was instantly accomplished. The car was a little nervously twitchy, but a lot of fun and gorgeous. Hope you enjoy your collection in retirement.

I always told my kids "Be sure to dance"

my mom always said " Why walk to the poorhouse when you can run."

But I have plenty now and can retire in comparable comfort, not lavish, but meeting my needs.

I bought this car from Schomp BMW after the guy from Denver bought it from Naples and then traded for a new M6

 

If a tree falls and lands on a Porsche when no one is around, does the Porsche scream?

 

No screams. But in 10 minutes kids walking by put it on facebook, 20 minutes later TV station arrived because of facebook (I asked how they could possibly know). Police ignore for 60 minutes until I physically stopped a police car gawking at the site and the crowd.

I was afraid of the dreaded IMS failure. Last drive that car had was top down, in the sun, savoring the experience. But getting outgunned by Chevy Monte Carlo SS I do not miss.

 

How does the Jaguar compare to the Cayman S? I don't mean power, more general driving etc.

 

cayman s has great steering, pedal feel, and suspension suppleness. You can feel tight corners shifting weight at your hips which is super communication. Engine sound without revving is gentle but lacks V8 sounds I think beat every other engine type (incl v10 and v12).

A fellow Denverite gave up Maranello for a new M6?! Clearly not someone who values beauty, finesse and sound. Oh the pain of having missed a test drive!!

 

Cayman S is like a slot car. Do the highway entrances at twice posted. Much better than 911 as far as sticking to road and little roll at all.

The jaguar is a GT. I slide in the seats around turns, the car feels like it wants to roll.

Everyone should test drive a cayman for a real sports car feel.


The Denver guy traded it in after 2 months.
