Default Source for Heater Pump MJA6710AA Rebuilders

I've been looking for sources for the heater pump, sometimes called auxiliary water pump and even the air conditioning pump. PN MJA6710AA

It appears most dealer stocks are exhausted, and the few new OEM units are now being sold in the $400 and up range.

Rather than take my chances getting a used unit of unknown condition; I would first like to source a vendor with experience rebuilding them.

Any suggestions?

Here's a rebuilt one for about 100 GBP (about $130)
https://www.berkshirejagcomponents.c...aa-c2x18743616

Jag classic parts (jaguarclassicparts.com) has a new one for 187 GBP (about $250) +shipping without VAT, probably 15% less with a coupon.

I'm with you, if I replace this one, I don't want to do it twice with a used part.

Added: it may be that the rebuilt one above is 45 GBP cheaper, it's not clear in the listing whether the core charge is added or already included.

For some reason, neither of them will ship to US. Claim insurance prevents them.

That's odd, may be that particular thing. I've recently received things from both. Friend in the UK?

Also, I was able to get the US as a choice on jagclassicparts by selecting a bolt first. They use DHL, so the insurance problem is odd.

The Heater Pump is sold on an exchange basis. As these are becoming increasingly difficult to source, Berkshire Jag Components will be desparate to ensure they receive the return. As can be seen from their website, the process is made both low cost and easy for UK buyers.

Sending parcels to the USA from the UK is relatively straightforward but those coming in the opposite direction may or may not be subject to Customs clearance fees - it's a lottery. The outcome is Berkshire Jag Components could have to pay an additional 36 UKP on the return item. The other risk is overseas customers wouldn't even bother to ship their old unit back.

Insurance may balk at shipping because in a scanner it looks at lot like a pipe bomb w/ detonator lead. :-)

Seriously.... has anyone gotten a heater pump recently? I'm pretty good at sourcing out parts, and this one new in box is NLA in the US for a reasonable price.

I'm looking at either
(1) Finding a qualified rebuilder locally, someone who knows these small DC motors, or
(2) Adapting another model heater pump. The XK's (X150) have pump, different design, but I sure its 12V and the inlet and outlet are most likely the same dimensions. Just need to reconnect wiring ( pos and neg/) and fabricate a mounting bracket which is no big thing.

Below is a Mercedes heater pump which lists for $45

I fixed my pump and I can look at yours and see if I can do something with it if you want.

Jagbits has a used for $250 - https://www.jagbits.com/product/MJA6710AA-USED.html

and SNG Barratts shows new (special order) for $300 https://www.sngbarratt.com/us/#!/Eng...#resultsAnchor

If you have the old part out - is there any other information on it that may cross to its source?

Thx Gus... I might take you up on that offer.

klimii .. There are couple on eBay right now for between $75 and $120, but then again unknown used is a crap shoot, especially given what necessary to remove and replace these pieces. Also, I don't have the old unit removed yet, so I can't see any ID markings that might help w/ interchange listings

There are applications w/ last letter changed MJA6710AA to MJA6710AC, that I think fit related models... it appears only the bracket and the connector location on the body [instead of pigtail] is different.

Well I purchased two on ebay and one was near death and the other was dead and that was what made me rebuild the one I had. When I say rebuild I am limited on what I can and cannot do but mine is still working.

These pump have a magnetic coupling to the impeller, basically they spin a big magnet and encounter hardly any resistance. The problem is that the brushes to the DC motor wear out as this pump runs anytime the ventilation system is turned on. If you search around, these brushes can be cheaply sourced, but need to be worked/sanded/filed a bit to fit in the existing channels. The wires also have to be soldered on. An option is to buy an old pump on eBay and repair it ahead of time. Then later repair your old pump and sell it too, likely at a profit.

You already found this write-up, right? heater-pump-removal-how-to

Google "Auxilliary water pump" and use a ford/generic one for $40 bucks, the mounting brackets will be wrong but you can hold it in place with cable ties.

Oops, just saw this post, no good reason not to use the merc one. If mine wears out again, that is what I will do rather than rebuild the original.

Found this 2.5" ID generic bracket for the pump on Amazon

And I think the pigtail for pumps w/ electrical connection on the body is the same as a Beck Arnley 158-0400 Fuel InjectionWire Harness Connecto

My bad. It is not OEM Mercedes, but off brand replacement...but still less than $45.
https://www.carparts.com/details/Mer...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

I'd go with a better known brand like Bosch which sell for around $60-$90 each. Here's one on ECS Tuning Bosch PN 0392020024 Electric Water Pump on Amazon for $65

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-bosch-pa...0aAsFHEALw_wcB

The pigtail connector for this Bosch pump is Bosch Connector Plug Kits 1237000039 // Summit has them for $20 and generic FI connectors are like under $10

Another possibility is a parcel forwarder from the UK, e.g.

Sent an email off to Bosch Auto USA as follows:

Looking for a replacement auxiliary water pump on Jaguar MY 1997-2008 XK8. These units are NLA
Your Bosch pumps appear to have similar form and fit, particularly:
Bosch 0392020039
Bosch 0392020029
Bosch 0392022002
Bosch 0392023004

We require a flow rate of approximately 8-10 L/min. This spec is nominal as the application merely feeds the heater core w/ hot water. It is important however, because if the flow rate were too high, it would create too much pressure for the heater core. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated by the greater community of early Jaguar enthusiasts, of which about a dozen are currently searching for a vendor-sourced replacement. (end of msg)

Can anyone confirm the flow rate of our OEM pump? I'm going off a YouTube video of some guy emptying a 5 gal container w/ a Jag pump.
