Friend, I think you are not treating "sparks" seriously enough. That should not happen. Try using plastic next time.

That notwithstanding:

In case this may help: The blue CD eject switch you push is a plastic lever. Inside it is a rod that tapers to a point at the internal end. This plastic taper is resting on a micro switch that faces downward from bottom of its circuit board. As you push this switch in, the taper presses on the swtich and it makes closes a connection. FYI: the switch is so tiny replacing it would almost need a microscope.

The reason I say this is because my blue plastic switch lever's mounting wore out. I didn't know enough to try pushing down as well as back to engage the swtich. Don't laugh but ttytt I got frustrated and broke the darn thing !!

Anyway maybe, just maybe, you can get yours to work by finessing the push motion now that you know how this works. Good Luck.

LOL - I KNOw sparks are NOT good. Before reading your post, I followed some similar advice on this site (after trying, further, to press the interior release mechanism with a small screwdriver, then a credit card). Finally, I tried holding eject button and tapping (hard), and it finally released the magazine. Now, the magazine goes in and out just fine. Hopefully, it still plays the CDs; I'll try that soon.

Some have posted that self-recorded CDs may create this problem (sticking). I never had the problem before, though, and I used it for a long time. Any opinion on whether I need to avoid using self-recorded CDs?
