Default Speedometer needle keeps shfting backwards?

Two of the dash bulbs on our '06 XKR were burned out so seeing how fast the car was going was impossible. Took the dash apart to replace the bulbs, instead of just replacing two, replaced all four just in case. However after it was all back together, the speedometer was not reading properly. I took it back apart and reset the needle by hand and reassembled the dash again. All seemed to be ok after a short test drive. This morning after starting the car a noticable backup on the needle happened. I turned the ignition on and off several times and with each cycle the speedo would back space about 5 mph into the void area at the bottom of the guage and completely around backwards. I started the engine to see but the needle still backs up with every start. I took it all apart but don't see any way to stop it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to resetting the speedo needle again? Thanks for your help

If it was working OK before you changed the bulbs and all you did was change the bulbs then suspect harness connectors not properly engaged.

Thanks Graham, I just checked the wiring on the right corner of the guage group and found several broken wires under the composite insulation. They are very thin wires are they able to be soldered? If they are will probably have to add some length as they are too short to pull together and solder back together easily. Is there any problem with this? Thank you so much for your help.

Larry,

Broken wires in the harness to the yellow RH connector .........

................ or the connector block in the IP?

Either way, some delicate repair work but not really an alternative.
