Hi there the sport mode switch was sticking so i have replaced it with a new one .Looking at old one was glued in but i noticed two screw holes so was wondering if there should be a retaining plate over it ? Any answer would be great can not find part any where.

They just clip into place in the shifter surround. I can't picture where a retaining plate could go - can you post a picture of the switch?

You say "metal" surround. Just in case you have an aftermarket metal gear selector surround, the switches may in fact be held in place by a saddle and two screws, mine is.

I happened to have both OEM styles in my stash of parts so I took a quick pic. This should help.

The one in my 4.2 is metal, but doesn't look like the one in the picture. I haven't had mine apart yet, but it has two holes, like the one above right.
