Default Sport Switch

Good morning all.
Pressed the above yesterday and it popped up with the little red light on. Everything ok. Tried to switch it off but would not stay down in the off position. Now would you think this is a broken switch or a fuse / solenoid or a Jag gremlin.

When mine won't stay down I wiggle it a little back and forth while hold light pressure down. I guess mine is not broken just a little worn. Jack

I've never had to do it, but it would be an easy fix. Here's how to remove the J-gate surround. After removing it, the switch itself should come out pretty easily.

J Gate Surround Removal - YouTube

You don't need to remove the wood piece, either. Just get the black plastic piece out to access the switch.

FIXED.
Hi guys, thanks for your advice and in particular Rev. Sam's video on how to get to the switch. Unpluged it, thought I'd give it one more try and bingo the bloody thing worked.
Thanks again guys.

How long did it take you to remove the J-gate surround? It took me about 15 minutes the first time, but now I can do it in about 45 seconds. I've done it 6 or 7 times in the last week.

It took me 10 seconds to remove the J gate surround the first time and it didn't even break or scratch anything.
I used a screwdriver to remove it. Very easy.

Afterwards I replaced it with a nice aluminium surround to put the horrible piece of plastic away.

I just can't understand why people want to put that plastic surround back in place at all. It just looks awfull and disrespects the Jag.

Did you crack the whole thing, or just break one of the tabs? The tabs are pretty fragile, apparently. Fortunately I haven't broken any yet.

About the same as your video as the last tab bottom right would not release. But for your video Reverend Sam I'd still be struggling with it. Thanks a lot.

I learned that if that last tab won't pop out, press the other side back in and then it will pop out very easily. Then the side will come right out.

For those broken plastic tabs or any other broken plastic try "Plastex Plastic Repair Kits".
I've been using the stuff for years it's a miracle. Plastex.com I don't work for them this is just a testimonial.
