One (or perhaps more??) of the drive pulleys squeaks badly when the engine is cold. I would like to have a go at replacing it, but I can't pin down which pulley it is.

I have tried spraying lubricating fluid on all of them and this stops the squeaking for about 30 seconds, but I still can't pin down which pulley is bad.

Any ideas, or is it a pig of a job which I should leave to a dealer anyway?

Do you have the original single sided supercharger belt?
Had to have my belts replaced and new pulley was needed also for new type belt.
Used to squeak but doesn't anymore. The SC belt was slipping causing the squeal, a job I was saving but forced to do in the end.
As an aside, the belts had to be changed because an oil pipe to the cooler burst. I stopped the engine in time !

Dealer said old type SC belt not avail from Jaguar so had to have new pulley as well.

Are you positive the squeal is coming from a pulley and not the belts?

Doing it yourself is more than feasible if you have a few hours to spare but as you say, it needs to be identified first.

Is it possible to start the engine and spray the pulleys one at a time and try to track it down that way.

Interesting. So you think it's the belts.. I had assumed it was the bearings in the pulleys, but maybe you're right. I will look into it

Spilling even a small amount of coolant on them seems to be the kiss of death and they squeal on startup for evermore.

Unfortunately belt dressing (e.g. Ambersil) doesn't fix it and the only cure is new belts.

The supercharger belt was replaced by a dealer 18 months ago as part of the service, so I sprayed some silicone-based lubricant on the other belt and the squeaking stopped instantly.

However, access looks very tight down there and I wonder how on Earth you're supposed to change the other belt without removing either the engine or the entire front of the car.

Has anyone changed this belt and if so, is it a relatively easy job, and what is the part reference number? TIA

Have you read the directions on the can? I have 2 differant brands of belt dressing and why would I ever need to read directions? Im a guy right! Well both cans say DO NOT use on serpentine belts, oops

I always read the distructions as a last resort.but its to late then
