If you have checked the fuel filter and fuel pressure at the rail, then check the fuel rail sensor. Try the easy stuff first, cleaning connections and making sure it is connected correctly.

Was hoping to help but your set-up is very different than mine. Jac

The MY 2002 XKs do NOT have a Fuel Pressure Sensor (a electrical device that connects to the ECM).

They do have a Mechanical Fuel Pressure Regulator.

There is no signal from this device that would set a trouble code.

If the car is a 4.2 Liter, then it would be a MY 2003 with a Electronic Sensor.

Are some 2003 Cars in the UK registered as 2002s?

Edit: Sorry, I just see that it's a 4.2 Liter. It must be (what we in the U.S.) call a 2003 MY. It would indeed have a Electrical Sensor.

Yes, the 4.2L appeared in the UK in 2002, so this system is electronic returnless fuel pressure regulation with no schrader valve. Fuel pressure can be read from an OBDII scanner with real time data monitoring features.

Not all scanners can read real time data, some only read codes. What is the brand and model number of yours?
