My project keeps on giving. My horn has never worked plus the airbag light keeps flashing so as the existing steering wheel was in a bad state I thought I'd change it anyway which might even deal with the issues but I'm not that lucky.
The horn is still not working.
Airbag only flashes when I push the airbag/horn.
As the fuses are all good and the connectors to the steering wheel were fine I'm guessing it could be a lose connection with the connectors themselves, does anyone know how to check these?
I believe the air bag indicator always flashes to deliver a numerical code. 3 flashes (3) pause one flash (1). Look up air bag code 31 in that ironically my) case. Light repeats a couple of times then goes solid on.
I had to charge the battery which is the reason for the delay in my reply but now the light is not flashing it just a solid light, any ideas what this means?
Also has anyone had the same issue with the horn not working?
When I first changed the steering wheel it only flashed when you tried to use the horn but since I gave the battery a good charge its now just a sold light. 😞
For horn operation, check fuses #11 and #13 (both 10A) in the engine compartment fusebox. If they're good, check the horn relay (in the same location) either by substitution or bridging pins 3 & 5. That will confirm everything downstream of the BPM.

Thanks for the advice Michael. The fuses are good so I'll check the relay when I go to the car later.
I'm trying to establish if the horns are actually working, or if they're just not being fired. Suggest bridging 3 & 5 on the relay socket, but I wonder... can you set the alarm off? Lock with the fob, unlock with the key, open the door and wait a few seconds.
You should hear the 'countdown' beeps from the steering column loudspeaker. Have the fob/key ready to cancel the alarm when it goes off. If you do hear the horns, then the issue is upstream of the BPM or, less likely, the BPM itself.

Reason: clarify
Unfortunately Michael my fobs aren't working either and never have really which is another issue so I cant try as advised, now and again the passenger door locks and unlocks repeatedly but that's all when I press the button.
That's just what I call it - the handbook calls it a ticking noise.
I've attached the Security System literature - have a look at the 'Key Operation' section.
