I've recently replaced the cassette under the steering wheel on my 1999 XKR convertible but when I removed the upper and lower cowls trim which a previous owner had clearly removed before I found an electrical connector not connected to anything, see the pictures below.
the connector on the right is the one in question, the other is for the dashboard illumination dimmer.
the above picture shows the black cable (southeast corner) running from the connector in question and joining a larger wiring loom.
I don't want to put everything back together until I know what this connector is for so I would really appreciate some advice?
It appears that you do not have power steering column positioning on your car? The control switch for that function is located adjacent to that dimmer switch.

Apologies for the delay in replying Ive been away, your probably correct Brian I expect it s for the power steering column adjuster that my car does not have.
