Default Still finding reasons to read the manual

I have some old cassette tapes I made a few years ago of some favorite mixes. For those of you too young to remember, these are small plastic cases that contain a roll of magnetic tape that you could record to and then play back

Anyway, for the first time today I put one of these in the player in the Jaguar and it sounded great. However, I was disconcerted to find that every time I stopped while doing my various errands, the tape would pop out. I figured this was because I also had cd's in the player and the car was somehow getting confused.

When I got home I read the Audio manual and found that this feature was intentional and also it could be disabled.

Very interesting.

Magnetic tape? What good is that? It will only stick if the object you're sticking it to is made of iron!

I think the tape pops out to prevent the tape from getting damaged. If it's pinched between the capstan and the rollers, and draped across the tape head for an extended period without moving, you could get a spot on the tape that would sound mushy or muffled.
