Subwoofers in Coupe Trunk & Fuel Tank
I’m very in to car audio. When purchasing my 04 XKR coupe, I had no idea the fuel tank was in the TRUNK! I’ve never seen that before…and I was a mobile installer for a few years back in 99-01, wiring hundreds of vehicles…actually seems like a safety hazard in the event of a collision.
Anyway, has anyone installed aftermarket subs in the trunk? If so, how does well does the bass transfer in to the vehicle’s cabin after passing through (and around) the fuel tank and factory sound deadener?

It's safer than having an under slung fuel tank rupture in a collision and deposit the contents onto the hot exhaust pipes!
I'm not into audio installation so don't bite my head off for this suggestion but comparing the premium audio setup and the convertible rear speaker locations could give you some ideas on speaker positioning.

I had a 10" sub enclosure built into the left hand side of the boot/trunk - thank god I agreed to also have the sub-volume adjuster fitted as even with it behind a full tank of fuel it still kicks you in the back, re-arranges your internal organs and makes your hair stand on end. If you go that route I would recommend installing sound deadening material as well to stop all the bodywork buzzing. I had the boot lid, floor and inside of the rear quarters done, as well as the doors.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
