supercharger clean and rebuild
Hi all,
Im changing valley hoses on a 2000 xkr 90k miles ; since the supercharger is out would like to do at least front end rebuild and re-pack the rear bearings. so ive ordered the front snout kit, got the grease and have a 12 ton press. got some question if the other members can advise, first question on removing the screws or rotors to repack the rear bearings- is there any specific timing mark or sequence that I need to put them back same so both are in sync with engine ? I saw some post that the screws have sort of timing that needs to be maintained - not sure. Cleaning- whats the best way to clean the whole assembly ? ive seen posts on not doing because it may harm the coating; do all cars have coating on the screws ? and finally- how difficult would you say it is to do the replace the rear cup bearings? Thanks for any help on this.

Elliot,
I believe that the 2000 Model is a M-90 a smaller Blower than the 2003 on....The 2003 on is an M-112 and the Rotors have been coated....The earlier ones were not and they are a little smaller unit (This is by memory)….It sounds like you have done the right thing by ordering the Bearing Kit for the Nose-piece. I'm not sure about the Rear Bearings but apparently you have press that will do the job. Don't put anything old back into the case except the Rotors....You can send them to any of 50 rebuilders on the internet and right off hand I can't remember the name of the Guy in Tennessee but if you look on the internet you can find him...He is really good!
Good Luck to you!

Never rebuilt the bearings myself but 4.0 and 4.2L Jaguar all use an upside down M112. The M90 was only used by Jaguar on the strait 6 XJR.
There are I think some minor differences in the coatings and other little things that manifest as a Gen4 or Gen5 model of the M112, but either unit will bolt to any of the Jaguar V8s. I'm not sure if the differences extend to bearings and such but your 2000 model should be a Gen4.

You are right! I had a 2000 XKR and as you said it was different in that the 2000 didn't have the Coatings on the Rotors but was basically the same Eaton Blower as the one's on my 2003 and 2005 XKR's....I don't know where I came up with the M-90 thing...Sorry if this screwed anyone up!
