Default Supercharger question

I have my supercharger removed to replace the coolant hoses in the valley, and noticed when I turn the pulley, there is rotational play in both direction before impellors turn...Is this normal or ?
Thanks!

There is a plastic and steel spring coupler that drives the rotor assy.

Play is normal.

While you have the S/C off the Car, you need to change the Oil.....and continue to do that at least every 15,000 miles.....!

Thank you, and I'm glad to hear that! I have to say this car is kind of a can of worms..

2KXKR....

Not really; All you have to do is take care of all the Maintenance things.....Oil & Filter every 4,500 Miles, S/C Oil every 15,000 Miles....Check the Oil (Cold) one a Week and drive the Hell out of it!

Default Supercharger oil

bcprice36,
Thanks for the info on SC oil...is there procedure link here for doing that? first I've heard of it. What oil does it use, and how much?
I will elaborate on my can of worms comment...my wife wanted one of these cars since they came out and we bought this one from an estate with 37K miles. I did do most of my homework before buying but clearly missed some..Thankfully people like yourself and others on this forum have been a great help to me. That being said, I'm attempting to complete all maintenance to keep it running as trouble free as possible..It started with timing chain tensioners, oil leaks, hard plastic hoses that break when you take them off, leaking valley coolant hoses, rear wheel bearings have play, and the pinion seal on the rear diff is leaking..My aircraft tech brain tells me to fix everything questionable, but I'd go broke buying parts doing that! Good thing my wife likes it so much..the parts bills are more palatable for her!
Thanks again!

hJason,

The S/C has a small Hex Plug up on the nose that you remove.... The ebay Guys sell a plastic suction hose to suck the old Oil out and then Pump the new S/C Oil back in....The oil is the same S/C Oil that Ford and GM sells for their S/C Cars and you can buy 2 Bottles at the Dealer....About $18.00 a Bottle....It stinks to "High heaven"!....

I'm not sure what year or which XKR you have, so I don't know which Tensioners you have so it would help to know the year of your Wife's Car.....You should always indicate Year, Make and Model on the Forum...…Some of us old dumb Guys might not know that 2K means 2000! Is it a Coupe or Convertible....what Color,,,send a photo or two....
