Default TerraClean in the U.S?

Hi guys,

I hate bringing TerraClean up again as a subject, but I swear I've gone through just about every thread on the subject. I've been all over the net as well and I can't find out if the service is available in the U.S., and even more importantly, WHERE in the U.S.

Let's not debate whether the treatment works or not. I just need help finding the service, ... "or" if some U.S. competitor has come up with a truly equivalent treatment (i.e., not just a fuel additive).

As always: THANKS!

Get yourself a water/meth kit, that will be cheaper in the end, and you will have a cleaner engine for a longer time frame.

Why not shoot them a mail, or call them to see where if / any dealerships are located in the US?

Good luck

Had mine done just a week or so ago, previously had it done on my A6.

I have to say I reckon I have about 3-5 mpg better average over the last 150 miles or so as far as I can tell to date.
Unsure on the emmissions but it certaianly hasn't made it worse!

I hope to be able to build a better picture in the coming weeks & months, but happy to date.

I have a flexi pipe cracked thats causing an exhaust leak near the manifold, hope to have it fixed soon and I reckon that may improve it further still

Let us know how you get on Scardini......what they say, how much and if you go for it or not and of course the results if you do?

Thanks

Thanks guys. All good.

Woo-hoo! A dealer in Maryland. Unbelievable - it's as far from me in the State as is just about physically possible - over 3.5 hours. (lol).

If nothing else, I can contact them or TerraClean home plate to see if there's a location nearer to me. At least I know it exists here. Cool.

For those who might be wondering why: My previous engine (which is no more - whimper) had been burning quite a bit of oil. My 50K mile replacement engine runs just great, but even after replacing both lower O2 sensors and a few gas treatments, I'm still getting P0420/P0430 codes (catalytic converter efficiency). So I'd like to blast the cats with a TerraClean wash and see if that finally clears the problem.

Our Justice Brothers rep was always trying to sell it to us so I know they're a distributor for it. I'd try checking with them. If you can get the local reps name, I'm sure he could tell you what dealers have the terra clean equipment.

I'd be more inclined to believe that your cats are already toast. Cataclysmic convertors are essentially self-cleaning by virtue of the very high temps they operate at. If the crud is not already burnt off, a squirt of magic juice won't help.

I have heard that around here (Pacific Northwest U.S.A.) the catalytic converters get fouled by sulphur from Alaskan crude. No amount of heat fixes that.

If they are fouled by oil then getting them hotter than normal might help. I try to get mine as hot as possible as preventative maintenance just in case.

When I had the exhaust off a few weeks ago I had peek at the cats; sparkling clean inside and the ceramic was bright white. Not bad for 85k miles, and have had the water meth kit installed for the last 15k or so.

*disclaimer: circumstantial evidence, I don't know what they looked like before the water/meth.

Default TerraClean in the U.S?

So, having my XK8 get its Terraclean done in Los Angeles. Fingers crossed. But, I'm fairly confident it will keep it running great.

It's around $190 (USD).

How did you find a shop that did it? I ask around, but no one's ever heard of the treatment.

If the car is running great now, how will you know if the terraclean works or not?

SCardini1, I contacted the parent company of Terraclean and one of their reps contacted me. There are several places in Los Angeles that use the system but most are in dealerships. So, Mercedes dealers and BMW dealers were not to be found for the Jaguar. But, there was one independant shop in my area that had the system. I don't think he had many customers use it. But, he did use it on his own cars. So, that's how I found Santa Monica Auto Center. Eduardo is a funny guy. In a good way.

Mikey, the car is running good. But, as you may know carbon deposits are going to be present in a car with close to 90K miles. And a new engine is the optimum engine, So, if I can clean it out from injector rail to tail pipe and eliminate most all of the carbon deposits, I try it.

The first thing I noticed is more grunt down low. And it sounds smoother. That could be my imagination. But, it does feel smoother and that is not my imagination.

We'll see how long it lasts. Some have reported it get incrementally better as you build the miles. Some say the improvements level off but that it is better than before. We'll see.

One thing that was pretty cool is that the rep came to the shop and ran the process for the shop owner. He walked me through the technology and the process as the car was being done. There is not much to do but connect it and turn it on. But, it did give me confidence that it was being done correctly.

Very good. Some years have passed since I last tried to find the service. I'll give it another go - maybe some have finally appeared in Maryland.

Thanks, and good luck.

Actually the opposite is usually true. Modern engines in good condition using good quality fuels do NOT have carbon deposits of any meaningful quality.

If a significant difference is noted before/after, there is an underlying problem that should be addressed.
