Hello Folks,

Well, I saw one of the leds looking a bit dimmer than the rest and fondly imagined I would be able to visit the jag dealer, get ripped off for a single led (or perhaps an entire array - worst case scenario) but no........

I need to buy the entire incredibly expensive unit.

Got home, removed it and sure enough its glue/plastic welded closed.

Anybody experienced this? I am determined to take it apart and fix it. After all its only a single led failure.

I should have mentioned the array is for an XK convertable. It sits on the boot lid and is seriously glued together.

When I read your original post yesterday, I had a look at the convertible third brake light. Sure enough no individual parts listed and they appear very hard to source other than at the dealer.

They've certainly been determined to make it waterproof.

I've checked the UK specialist Jaguar breakers but none are showing a used item as available in stock.

There is one listed on eBay UK:

If you can't source one in the US at a reasonable cost, this may be worth taking the hit on the international shipping charge.

I got a replacement from Hawaii ! spoilerlights.com $54 w/shp.for my wifes 2000 XK8 conv. 15.5" long.

Thanks for the heads-up folks. As if by magic I found one about 25 miles away on ebay - £40. Should arrive in the next few days. This means I have a whole heap of replacement leds if I need to perform surgery in the future
