Throttle Body Source ? - 2001 XKR
No idea what you consider "reasonably priced" but they will all be rather costly. Try Welsh Enterprises and SNG Barratt Group. The latter offers a 10% discount to forum members (but you have to ask for it)....
I had to replace the TB (Throttle Body) on my 2001 XK8 in the days when the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) wasn't available separately. Hugely expensive.
If you "only" have a TPS failed, new replacements are available from:
https://www.xk8-parts.com/2016/03/th...ve-as-a-spare/
Another source but currently (Feb 2021) showing out of stock:
https://www.berkshirejagcomponents.c...45-c2x32129896
I would avoid a used item. Likely to have some track damage and therefore limited life.

Thanks for the help, good info.
My 2001 XKR went into limp mode in front of a good but non Jag expert shop, and their only option was to get a complete throttle body for ~ $2,500 (USD).
That is my definition of unreasonable. After letting it set at the shop overnight the car started and ran fine, so now it sits in the garage.
Since then I have been reading up and have found a number of possible causes including checking connections, replacing tin connector pins with gold ones (not sure where to find those), replacing the TPS sensor, and finally getting a rebuilt throttle body for around $750 (USD) that has a warranty.
I found a TPS on EBay that appears to be an original as it has the Denso name and identical part number for $50 so I bought that. I tested the two pots and it appears to have good continuous readings on both, but I don’t know what the specs are.
Since I don’t want to get stranded on the road again, (and it’s snowing and cold right now). I plan to stay close to home until I can feel more confident that the issue is resolved.
It would be helpful if there was a checklist of readings or definitive ways to narrow down the issue.
There is a Jag expert (non dealer) shop in town, but they are in a lockdown no person to person mode right now. I want to have a conversation with them to get another opinion before coughing up the $750+ and still having the same problem.

The price I see on the website is S2,750. That would be a very last resort, if then.

PS. perhaps it’s time to buy one or two parts cars

Sure, understand and thanks.
I see now why so many have parts cars listed. I enjoy understanding how these things work, and fixing them when I possibly can.
The beauty of this beast makes it worth it.
