Ticking Sound from Front Left Wheel Well
I noticed the other day that I have a pretty loud ticking sound from the front left wheel well. I noticed it when I was sitting in the driveway and opened the driver's door. I can't hear it when the door is closed. I revved the engine but the ticking sound didn't change speed. It's about 3 or 4 ticks per second. I seem to remember a thread about this from many months ago, but I don't remember the cause and I can't find the thread. Any thoughts?

Some ticking from the purge valve is normal.
The purge valve is 'shock mounted' in rubber mounts to minimize transfer of noise to the vehicle. If it is really loud, you might want to remove the left wheel and wheel well liner and double check that it is still 'floating' in its mount and not contacting anything that might transfer the sound.
The TSB replaces the valve with a new design that includes a filtered vacuum intake, remoted via a hose to the brake booster enclosure. I am not really sure if the new design is quieter, only that it has changed in response to the fact that the old one corroded internally, eventually causing the fuel odor issue.
