Default Tonneau Covers

I see a number of sites with what looks like good covers, anywhere between a few hundred and up to six hundred. What and where have you purchased that you have been happy with quality and durability wise?

I purchased mine from topsonline.com about three years ago and use it all the time I think it's nicer than the original. I also stiffened the wings, it looks cleaner that way.

Yes, Topsonline is tops, ask for Vic.
I had mine done in the same canvas material the top is made from, canvas looks much better, but not as easy to care for.

RCSIGN
what do you mean stiffen the Wings?
How did you do that?

Thanks and

Happy Motoring...

Default cover

I bought mine from the ebay link above. Perfect match to the interior and I had the embroidery done with a thread to match the anthracite exterior.

What have you guys done to improve the snap function so it doesn't blow loose so easy. Mine has come loose at the snaps several times at very modest speeds. Been thinking about adding a second snap on each side or some velcro at several spots.

Mine are nice and tight. If the studs are worn any, you could replace those and see if it helps. I've been well over 100 without them coming lose. I get more concerned about some of the cross breezes that tend to lift it from the side. I live in a very windy area so I get all sorts of experience with it.

Ended up with these guys primarily due to the feedback and "We are the only aftermarket manufacturer who offers the original factory fasteners with the finger ring, everyone else uses a fingernail breaking fastener that has no finger ring. our fasteners are black chrome and cost twice as much.." and "Our boots use a compound curved ribbed stiffener, built into the leading edge of each wing, just like the original equipment, if this ribbed stiffener is left out, or just a flat piece of plastic, (like some of the cheaper built ones have), the fit will be poor and the boot may flap in the wind. "

As asked by Mitchell

A couple of years ago one of the members added stiffeners to the wings that tuck in the side on the quarter panel. I couldn't find the thread. I can't remember what he used but I cut the pattern out of lite cardboard. Then cut them out of acrylic, glued them to the inside. With the acrylic I was able to use a heat gun and match the curve of the body, this leaves a nice shape to the cover. When I get home tonight I'll post a picture of it.

I am looking to purchase a boot cover. I have seen the vinyl cover from Jagbits, Topsonline and the like. Also if I could find the old ¾ cover, which covers everything except the driver’s seat would be cool.
But I am starting to lean towards the Mina gallery hard convertible boot cover. Is there another brand of hard cover out there? Has anyone had any issues with this type of boot cover (pro or con)?

I would highly recommend the link posted in post #9. I talked with that guy once or twice and he took obvious pride in the quality of his boot covers and went into great detail about the ways he improved over the OEM.

I second that if you opt for the soft cover.

This thread is a great find- I've started hunting one of these in time for spring. Found a used OE cover on eBay that is $395! I made an offer of $200 and was rejected. Glad I was. Thanks to all in here for the options...

Default Great price on a used boot cover

I just happened on this boot cover at about half the typical price. No affiliation.

Just bought from the guy mentioned in posts #2 and #9. Could not be happier with the appearance, fit and price.

It's a one man operation that he started many years ago when trying to find a quality cover for his own XK8.
