Top engine rattle

Top engine rattle
Today i have removed my cam covers to have a look at the chains and VVT as i have a rattle at start up and it doesn't go away, looking at the Tensioners they are 2nd gen and seem to be in good condition have used a borascope to have a look around and cant see anything obvious why there is a rattle, chains are tight no apparent damage, any ideas one thing i did notice one of the solenoid shafts seems to be further in

Please replace the tensioners while you are there. That is absolutely needed will remove one source of rattles from discussion. The belt tensioners are the second most common source of front of the engine noise. You can confirm that as the problem be removing the belt after you button up the valve covers.

If there 2nd gen I'd change them. Mine looked fine too until I replaced them. Even the dealer at the time said they were fine when I had them inspect them.
