Default Transmission Fault, P1111, P1121

Yesterday I took my 2000 XK8 convertible out for a nice evening drive in the country. After accelerating fairly aggressively from a stop sign up to 60 mph the engine powered down and went into limp mode in 2 miles.
The following messages appeared: Transmission Fault, Traction Control Not Available, ASC Not Available, Fail Safe Engine.
OBD2 codes: P 1111 (System Pass), P 1121 (Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance).

As a historic note pertaining to the Transmission Fault, I purchased this attractive car in 2010. At the time the mileage was 68,000. At approximately 69,000 miles my Jaguar technician changed the transmission fluid with a recommended NAPA fluid and filter. The transmission developed a squawk (screech) under acceleration so a additive was added. This did not quite eliminate the noise but it does go away after 30 minutes of driving. The car now has 74.000 miles.

Lately I have experienced a hard shift into first when getting off the brake after a quick stop.

Is a transmission rebuild in my future or possibily a primary control valve??

Any thoughts and experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Any chance your battery is starting to fail?

The ECM codes you see are not TCM.

You might have more DTCs in the TCM but cannot read them with a generic scanner.

You need to read the SERVICE ACTION S484am. It is a TSB issued in December 2001.

You might already have the correct INST PK rear cover????

Better to look to be sure.

You might also just have a failing gearbox and a faulty ABS module????

I had not considered that. The battery is a 2 year sealed old dry cell and is kept on a maintance charge.
I will check it out, however.

Thanks for the feed back.

Should you have a problem with the throttle body position sensor you will get a code P1121 and the transmission fault, traction control failure and fail safe. You can have the battery checked but chances are you need the throttle body position sensor rebuilt.

OK
Thanks for the advise. I will start with the sensor rebuild.
