Default Transmission rebuild

Looks like I might be in for a rebuild on my trans. Had the fluid changed hoping it would fix the surging problem when cold. It actually got worse. With that said is there any upgrades that can/should be done to inhance performance?

Just did a rebuild on mine. Same problem, got worse when I replaced fluid & filter.

Be sure and have them check the torque converter and main seal while it is out. New mounts are a good idea too. Cheap to do while the trans is out.

Don't know of any performance enhancements, but there are some recommended upgrades. The newer clutch drum for example. Search the threads, you'll get more info.

no performance enhancements that I know of, make sure to replace the pressure valve and use an uprated A drum- you should be good to go for many many miles after that.

+1

A few years back I had the transmission out of an XJ40 twice in six weeks. Different model but same advice applies.

First was for a failed torque converter. Back together and running perfectly then the main seal failed!

All that work again for a 5 UKP seal.
