Yea it does make sense, guess i just didn't think it through.

Now every single torque screwed has rounded off and none of my screw removers are working. Just making the holes slightly bigger each time.

Starting to regret attempting this!

Use the notch technique shown above. Worked for me, but not without frustration.

I think i am going to have to employ a similar technique but gonna use a dremmel and cut a slot in the head of each screw.

Run out of time today and it is going to take forever to do every screw....

The new pan set from many aftermarket suppliers come with the newer T40 pan screws(replacing the T27).

If ALL the T27 screw heads are stripping, you might be trying to use a T25?.

Use the T27 and at least some of them should come out without stripping.

Ahhh that explains it! I don't have a T27 and was indeed using a t25. I thought it seemed a bit loose :-S

I rounded off about 8 of them so i'll get a T27 for the next time and see if it helps. Was ao annoying as they would move a couple of mm then crumble.

As you said the new pan comes with T40 screws.

Such an amateur filter change!

I have watched countless videos and read all the guides but still managed to cover my garage floor in fluid and use the wrong torx size.

I know I didn't start this thread but it does document some of my **** ups!

I managed to get all the screws out and fitted the new pan today. All went quite well and didn't snap any when torquing them which was nice.

Thought I was really clever using a little 12v oil pump to fill the transmission, only took about 10 mins and all I had to do was flick a switch.

I started the car and had my pump all set up ready to flick it back on when the fluid was up to temperature. Everything was going well until I started to work my way through the gears... slipped it into reverse and the parking sensors started beeping away then after a second or 2 they stopped and boom gearbox fault comes up on the dash

Anyone else had this? Hoping it was just because the fluid level was low and can be reset now full.
