Default Transmission Woes

I'll bet there's a lot of stuff about this, but I haven't been able to track it down. I have a 2006 XK8 withe ZF 2HP26 trans. I often use the "S" button around town or on the fairly slow and very twisty roads here in Sonoma County, usually to get a little engine braking. But lately, I push the "S" button, the light comes on, all is well. I can hols 2,3,4,5 as necessary. But shortly after the car warms up a bit, I lose the ability to control the trans with the J-Gate. Also, the indicator light showing that I'm in Drive or whatever, blinks. I can leave the car in Drive, and the trans works perfectly fine.

Which little piece of 14-year-old electronic magic do you suppose has gone bad?

I haven't seen a thread with that issue; your best option is to find a shop that can read the transmission codes.

I'd simply put it in neutral, shut down the engine and restart while on the move. Tell us if things go back to normal?

I've heard that there 5hp24 transmission and the plug set up, leakage and a contamination of the signals to the trans control computer in the trans (I think).... Does the trans on the newer cars have the same plug set up?

This is a common problem with the later 4.2 version with ZF 6HP26 transmission

Suggestion...
Do all work, plugging in and unplugging units, bits and pieces in the JGate shifter and everything to do with the selection switch, with the battery disconnected... It's a pain in the but but the car REALLY doesn't like the shifter changes with electricity in the systems.

All, the slipping i refered to was the old trans was worn out, original oil, clutches shot, but was able to make it to the shop. The vibration issue was after the replacement trans was installed. Sorry for the confusion.
