For some time now there has been a wavering"chime" under the bonnet of my 1996 XK8. In the past it would come on and off randomly when driving & then when engine turned off. Lately it is just when the key is turned on. Everything seems to work ok and there are no messages coming up when the car is started. I have asked a number of Jaguar mechanics but no one seems to have an answer.

If it's emanating from somewhere behind the RHS headlight, it may be the security sounder singing its death throes.
