If you interpreted my post as a slam against Evans coolant, then you read it wrong. I was simply reporting what happened to one persons car. I was not in the drivers seat, he may have ignored the temperature gauge. My point would be that just preventing a boil over is not necessarily the desired end result.

Ok I understand what your saying Mike.

But that doesn't rule out that water reaches that 15 psi faster at lower temperature because of its lower boiling point.

It's my experience that when an engine has been boiling in most cases there is damage to the engine (cylinder head gasket) which could have been avoided with a coolant with a boiling point that's higher ?

Point being, compared to waterless coolant the margin from normal operating temperature until boiling point and high pressure is a lot smaller with normal coolants.

P.S. Lanny I don't see your post as a slam against evans I wouldn't mind if it was either

Without knowing the expansion coefficient of the waterless coolant, the above may or may not be true. I see nothing on their website that discusses this.

I send them an email asking for the expansion coefficient, waiting for a reply.

Default waterless coolant

I had a shop in Seattle called Community automotive service replace my coolant with the waterless coolant. They seemed to be the only one that knew about it. on my Jag XJ-S Also on my Dodge Viper, Waterless coolant helped in running engines a little cooler. I do recommend waterless coolant for the life of the engine. Good luck mate.

Default In My Car

I had my coolant flushed and replaced it with Evans, I just wanted a lifetime solution and to reduce my concerns about corrosion (parts are starting to get harder to find for the car). Put in both high performance intercooler and main water pumps. No issues so far.

I have just changed to Evans myself for the engine cooling system (not the intercooler circuit), and will be able to give some more details in a couple of weeks.

For now I have set it up as pressure less.

Avos. You separated the IC circuit? Did you do a write up on that?

The only reason I'm not running Evans in my jag is because I don't feel its good for IC use. I use it otherwise in all my high performance cars with great success.

I'll do write up later when I also have some test results, separating is easy though.

Better not use evans in the intercooler circuit, it will lower the heat transfer capabilities, which will rob power quicker

Ok time to add my 0.02 pennies.

I have changed over my Hayabusa and two KTMs to Evans waterless coolant. No problems to report at all.

Also swapped over my 66 MGB. Car is happy and so am I. I personally like the idea of less pressures on my components.

Jag is next on the list.
