Not my preference, but if you like it that is all that matters.

Yup, not my cup of tea but whatever lifts your skirt.

To be honest I've never liked the XKR louvres, they look like a bit of a chav afterthought, I wouldn't mind some real louvres on my XK8 though.

I don’t doubt they were an afterthought, one that was realized when the underhood heat became problematic.

in the “believe it or not” category, they do actually work to keep the air from becoming a “dead zone” under the hood / bonnet. Inside it’s a high pressure zone, outside the slots it’s a low pressure. The air flow is quite dramatic when exposed by a smoke stick ignited under the hood. Race supply places sell them just for this purpose.

You can see the smoke billowing out thru the vents / slots when the car is in motion.

Great minds think alike. I'm trying to come up with an idea to do just that. Maybe have someone send me some louvered panels & weld them in, & then maybe - just maybe - pull a mold off of the hood...

Or if you're feeling brave:

You will need to repaint your hood but I guess we both expect that.

Not so much brave but that would REALLY be time consuming. I have to paint the whole car anyway once I'm through with all the mods. I'm not sure what those mods will be but I'm thinking of changing the headlights to look more like the XKE (or at the very least painting the headlights body color), probably round taillights, removing the side moldings & fender emblems, shaving the other emblems, maybe removing the side markers (although I don't dislike the style of them as they are, just want to really smooth out the looks of the car), a small front lip spoiler, & I've already added the little rear wing with the CHMSL in it. Recently I've been thinking about re-locating the tag to the rear bumper & smoothing out the decklid in that area, but I'm not sure about that... Maybe the louvers wouldn't be that time consuming after all when you think about the time it'll take for the other mods...
