Default Vibrating Mirror

I need your help! I recently had my windshield replaced and found that my mirror was vibrating again. From what I can tell the fastener for the mirror is smaller than the original. If my assumption is correct many of the windshields installed had the wrong fastener for our mirrors and that would account for the many vibrating mirrors that I am seeing posted. I know this is a tall order but if I could get the measurements of the fastener (the part attached to the glass) it would be greatly appreciated and it would help others and put the blame where it belongs if my assumption is correct. I have a 99xk8 without a rain sensor. What I am looking for is the height, width and the depth.

Hey Gus isn't the windshield mount glued/fused to the glass? Therefore having a new mount would be nearly impossible to install? Or are you looking to get the windshield replaced with the correct mount? Would it not be easier to add a gasket/shim the shape of the mirror mount? I still have my car I'll try to get you some numbers. Might be tonight though.

I thought about the gasket / shim but why when I paid for a windshield with the proper mount. However, I do not know the exact measurements to say either way but the most important is to let others know not to have it happen to them.

No problem Matt, just wanted to see if I could get information. I do not want an attempt to help me create a bad situation for others.

Gus you need to take off the mirror and tweek the metal tags to tighten them back up. Ive never ever seen the wrong mount on glass and our glass does does alot of aftermarket and oem glass

So i'm a couple days late. Here are the numbers off the factory mount.

The back plate (portion affixed to the windshield ) is, 1.46"h dash to roof.
The back plate (portion affixed to the windshield ) is, .94"w door to door.

The mount is .69"w door to door.
The mount is .46"h dash to roof.

The inset, (portion that the mirror slides over) is .52". so your side clearance each side will be .085"

I hope you can follow this. Let me know if you cannot.
