Weak seat belt retractor

Weak seat belt retractor
Goes all the way out and back. But on unasssited reel back leaves maybe 6" of slack. If feed, goes all the way in. Guess just lost some of its spring. Any easy fix outside of replacing?

Pull it all the way out and wash with soapy water. Clamp it at the top
Dry fully then spray with Silicone spray NOT WD40.
Will then retract fine its the dirt in the fibres making it loose its flexibility

Tengo el mismo problema. Pero no le había prestado mucha atención. Gracias por el consejo. Al final, muchas cosas se solucionan limpiando.

I did the belt cleaning back in 2017 and covered the process here with pics. In my case I removed them from the car to do the cleaning.
Cleaning will help the retraction. I think its worth the effort to do this before you resort to replacing them.
