Arrow What to do with the spare cover...

So I think everyone agrees that trickle charging our batteries is good idea. So I setup a solar panel and use the juice to trickle charge my XK8 batt.
[Super Easy! you can find one on Amazon for RVs for not much coin]

I bring the wire over to the car to connect to the battery..'
Take out the spare tire cover and pause...
Where am I going to put this.🤔 (mind you on the ground was my first thought, but I didn't want it to get dirty or transfer sawdust, dirt, etc. into the trunk. Did I say ai was lazy..)
Looks at car ... sees weather seal at back of the trunk opening... stick panel behind it and push against trunk...

VOILA! 🤩

Why do I have to do this?

So I made this..

I made this...

It goes here..

Its not perfect, but it works great. You simply remove the panel rivet to expose a nice hole in the metal framing under the panel. A 3/8 inch by 1/2 inch lag bolt fits perfectly and holds well with its course thread. It takes a bit of learning how to move your fingers and manipulate the hook. You start off with the cover off center to the left and then either leave it there or move the cover to the center after you have the strap on the hook. Then to let it down you push down on the catch part of the hook strap slides ride off. And the best part is since it so well attached to the meta frame, it could easily have many more uses for tying things down (or up ad the case may be). There are a number of other panel rivets that attach to the metal framing, I am planning to replace two more of mine, with this low profile anchor.

I am seeing the perfect thing for a garment or dress bag when packing the trunk, or some kind of boot cover storage in the convertibles?

I love technology and Jaguars. 🤓

Let me know if you want the .STL (thats what I use on my Bambu) or DM me if you want me to print one for you (just pay me shipping).

Now when my girl is in the garage, happily sucking up a trickle charge, my spare cover is safe, clean, and out of the way. 😁

I think you are sayng you put it between the trunk floor an the spare wheel . ( Which language translator did you use ? )The floor has two positions dependent of it you have a full wheel or a space saver so why not just drop the cover down and put it in the trunk. or just put it in the back window on the parcel shelf?
Personally I found the output from these panels to be inadequate .

I'm puzzled as to why you need to remove that panel to get to the battery? The battery is under the L shaped panel to the right in the boot and there is plenty of room to run wires out under that panel.

What have I missed? Is this different on earlier cars?

Believe it or not I am natural English speaker and writer, no translator.

TL,DR; I 3D printed a hook that mounts simply on the boot inner frame and offers you a convenient place to "hold" the one piece floor cover in a 99 XK8 for what ever reason, that is all.

I admit I tried to be a bit comedic in my original post 😊

Oh and I was/am offering to make one for anyone that wants one.
