In some markets such as mine it might be for the illumination of the amber reflectors.

I have it too... you can see it sitting in the headlight cavity covered in black tape.

Whilst dismantling a lot of the car I have come to realise there are a lot of connectors dangling around not doing a lot. The base car seems to include all of the wires and connectors required for different markets and optional extras.

As mentioned it is entirely possible this is for attaching the loom to light the side markers. Although we did not require that function in the UK. Could also be for an optional extra like adaptive cruise control (if you don't have it).

Well its not a spare connector as its a 2 pin connector with something plugged into it .There is a slot to push onto some bodywork ..but where ...will have another look when I have the wheel off .

Even with the headlights out and bumper removed I couldn't work put where it goes. Let me know if you find it. it may be for the windscreen washer pump.

I also had the connector for the auto headlight levelling sensor dangling down in the wheel arch where a previous owner had removed it.

have an idea. Connect a voltmeter to it and switch things on and off. Have the ignition key on while doing these tests.

I am suspicious it may be to do with the adaptive shock absorbers but why is it not attached to the body?

Good find! Looks like it is clipped to the back of the washer bottle.

I will investigate next time I go to my garage as this area is completely exposed when the bumper is off.

I suspect its a level sensor for the wash bottle ..floating magnet on inside ..reed relay in the unclipped bit.
