fishman, please call and ask for Ken. I see no reason why it would not fit either the vert or coupe differently. They are the same part numbers by the dealer.
After looking at the .PDF instructions I think there is just a misunderstanding about how to drill out the existing rivets. When drilling a rivet you typically use a bit that is slightly larger than the rivet, that way when you drill down into the mandrel the head of the rivet comes off. Then you stop drilling. You don't drill through the metal plate that the rivet is attached too. I can understand Hemitwist's confusion, though. The directions should be more clear.
And personally, if I had done that I would have just drilled out the urethane bushing and used a larger rivet. You really went to a lot of effort to go to a junk yard and remove the other shock mounts.
yes I did.Funny in my trade,Acoustical ceilings.I may have used over 1,000,000 pop rivets. And when ever one has been installed in the wrong spot.1/8" or less out of line. We use the same size bit as the rivet shaft to remove it.Or I would have to carry a box of 10,000 over sized rivets with me.And a lot of times it is hard for the small size rivets that we use to get a good hold on the grid such as on angles or when 5/16"grid is ran.The box count is 10,000 and they may last a couple months. So this is not my first rodeo with a pop rivet. That was why i had questioned what the instructions said, twice.
How you drill a pop rivet out from the bottom is a misters to me?
Yes sitting back in my easy chair now,i can tell you many ways or things that I could had done,to save me from pulling parts in a yard.
As far as the idea of using larger rivets and drilling out the bushing.
Yes that is one of many ways. You would had to buy new pop rivets. And you may have to buy a larger rivet gun to use it.I have one that it for automotive and it is about 2 feet long. And my smaller hand tool for when i worked.
It would had worked for what you are saying.I then would counter sink the hole as well. When this idea of drilling out the bushing comes to play i myself like all the meat that I can get and would myself not do this.It may also cause it to split years down the road.Kinda like a bur on a block.
All the pop rivets does is hold the top 2 plates together to help you when you install it all.I would guess but not suggest that you could do this without any rivets.Once the unit is mounted it is all held tight and now not moving. But why am i tilling you this? You already have the answers.
The upper shock mount rebuilt kit did not last even 10,000 miles. Wondering if anyone else had the same issues
with them? I will NOT be buying them again!
